Over the years, Wye Valley has attracted millions of visitors from all over the country, even across the globe. Located at the heart of the charming village of Tintern, Riverside Cottage is easily accessible from various methods of transport.
Travelling by Car
If you are travelling from the North, the closest Motorway to Riverside Cottage will be the M50. The journey through A40, the major A-road running on the border of Wye Valley AONB is a scenic drive with many viewpoints overlooking the Valley. Once you reach Monmouth, take the A466 which brings you into Area itself. There are many towns and villages to explore on the way if you need a pitstop. The majority of the A466 runs adjacent to the River Wye, offering a leisurely journey throughout.
Travelling from the South, the closest Motorway is the M48; take junction two exit onto the A48 towards Chepstow. Take the A466 through the charming village of St Arvans and continue onwards towards Tintern. For most of the journey, you will find the River Wye on your right-hand side, offering a relaxing drive.
Travelling by Rail
Nestled by the River Wye, the old Tintern Railway officially closed for passenger or freight trains in 1959 and 1964 respectively. Now the nearest train station is at Chepstow, only 5 miles away from our cottage. Regular train services run to and from Chepstow, operated by Arriva Trains. Outside the station, you can use either local transport or the local taxi service to reach us. Alternatively, we can recommend a reliable car hire company with which you can use to explore the wonderful area of Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.
