Short Breaks Wye Valley
Are you looking for Short Breaks in Wye Valley? Our holiday cottages offer beautiful accommodation in Forest of Dean.
Riverside Cottage is a fantastic home away from home for the whole family to enjoy. Located on the banks of the fifth-longest river in the UK, there are plenty of activities and attractions available. We are located in the South of the Wye Valley AONB, easily accessible via the main transport infrastructure.
Because of our proximity to the River Wye, you can expect activities such as fishing to be available. From our location, you are within easy reach of other water activities such as canoeing or kayaking. There are several reputable companies which offer these activities- if required, we can provide more information. If you decide to take your canoe, you must leave from designated launch sites and be aware of your course- the river below Chepstow is tidal and should be treated with due respect and caution.
From our characteristic stone cottage, guests can enjoy views of the majestic Tintern Abbey, standing the tests of time since the 13th Century. Originally constructed by Cistercian monks, this historic monastic ruin has inspired and attractions countless visitors over the years. The magnificent Gothic architecture has been preserved carefully with a two-year conservation program. Although exposed to the weather, visitors can marvel at the intricate detail of the stonework and its ornate windows.
The Wye Valley AONB is one of the most dramatic and historic landscapes in the UK. Its archaeological importance is undoubtedly one of the main appeals of the area, along with the mild climate and the range of unspoiled habitats. From our small, enclosed garden you can immerse yourself in the natural environment. The sound of the river flowing and birdsong often provides a calming ambience for a relaxing evening.
We are conveniently close to many traditional country pubs with fantastic atmospheres and a fresh, local menu. In fact, our quaint cottage is the only property between two great local pubs. You can expect no less than hand-picked fine local real ale and a warm welcome.
